An Innovator at TEDxOdense: The Story Behind REACTIVE

When I look back on TEDxOdense REACTIVE 2022, I see it as a turning point in my journey as an innovator committed to impact, ESG principles, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

2022 itself felt like the beginning of a new era, a new paradigm: the world was slowly emerging from the shadow of Covid, redefining how we work, connect, and care for each other, while the war in Ukraine was reshaping political, economic, and human realities across Europe and beyond.

Seen from today, that moment already feels far away, almost like a different chapter of history, but the questions it raised are still very present.

My first encounter with Adam goes back to my student days at MMD, when I was just starting to understand how creativity, technology, and social responsibility can be combined.

We met again in 2019 at the European Youth Award in Graz, where the merger with the World Summit Awards was discussed and a stronger platform for digital solutions with social impact was imagined. That was when I realized that innovation has to be more than a “wow” effect; it has to be anchored in real societal needs and the SDGs.

As a volunteer at TEDxOdense REACTIVE, I witnessed the emotions of speakers stepping onto the red dot and the audience’s reactions to vulnerable, honest stories. Even though I was in charge of photography, the experience taught me to look beyond the technical role: images don’t just “capture” moments; they convey the energy and emotion of the event. I realized that the stories and ideas presented become memorable when supported by courage, empathy, and education.

Meeting Adam this time as a TEDx curator highlighted the continuity between our projects: the same desire to spotlight ideas that change behaviors and communities.

The theme REACTIVE resonated directly with me: How do we respond to crises and transitions? How do we reposition ourselves when the status quo no longer works—whether we talk about climate, mental health, inclusion, or the future of education? Every talk was about responsibility and choices, about turning vulnerability into strength and putting people and the planet at the center of decisions.

This experience strengthened my belief that my role is to create purposeful projects aligned with ESG and the SDGs and to work alongside people who share the same values. I left TEDxOdense REACTIVE with a renewed desire to support ideas and initiatives that bring value to the community and the environment, not just a single stakeholder—and to keep contributing, in my own way, to this new paradigm that started to take shape in 2022.
